IRS Announces 2019 Health Savings Account (HSA) Contribution Deadline Extended to July 15, 2020
March 24, 2020 - the Internal Revenue Service today issued notice 2020-18. This ruling provides answers to questions related to the tax filing deadline extension for the 2019 tax year.
Guidance related to health savings account (HSA) contributions was also provided in this notice. The IRS clarified that contributions may continue to be made to 2019 HSAs through the extended tax filing deadline of July 15, 2020. As a background, contributions may normally be made to an HSA at any point in a tax year and extend through the tax filing deadline for the year.
